How to Make Matcha in 5 Easy Steps

Follow our quick and easy steps to prepare matcha below. Matcha is a green powder, traditionally made from ground Japanese green tea leaves. As matcha comes in a powder form it needs to be whisked with water, or milk, in order to drink it.

 

Preparing your own matcha is a very straightforward task and is a nice moment just for yourself! Our quick and easy steps will help you make the perfect matcha every day. 

Make matcha green tea powder - the easy way!

Matcha Making Instructions
  1. Take a Perfect Matcha Spoon of matcha and add to a bowl (you can also do in your mug if you want it to be super simple).
  2. Add a splash of 80° water (a splash of cold before a splash of hot water works great if you don't have a fancy kettle). Using 80° water means that you don't burn the matcha and end up with a bitter taste.
  3. Grab your Matcha Whisk or Handheld Milk Frother and whisk in a W motion until it is frothy, make sure no matcha blobs are around the side of the mug! 
  4. Once fully whisked, this is your matcha shot. This is a great time to add any syrups or flavourings - we find honey is a great addition.
  5. Take your shot, and turn it into any matcha drink of your choosing! We have a few suggestions below.
Hot Matcha
  1. Pour your shot of matcha into a cup.
  2. If required, add a sweetener of your choice (our faves are vanilla syrup or agave!).
  3. Top with boiling water.
Or: Top with a milk of your choice (we love oat, coconut, or almond!)


Matcha Latte
  1. Pour your shot of matcha into a cup.
  2. If required, add a sweetener of your choice (our faves are vanilla syrup or agave!).
  3. Add hot frothy milk of choice (we use oat milk & a handheld milk frother for ours!).

Alternatively, if you are using a Matcha Latte Magic Whisk:

  1. Add 250ml of your chosen milk to the whisk & press the power button.
  2. Sprinkle 1 Perfect Matcha Teaspoon over the milk as it spins.
  3. After you have sprinkled in your matcha you can then add your syrup of choice if required.
  4. Place the lid on top of your machine and watch the magic happen.
Iced Matcha
  1. Pour your shot of matcha into a large glass with ice.
  2. If required, add a sweetener of your choice (our faves are vanilla syrup or agave!).
  3. Top with a milk of choice (we love oat, coconut, or almond!).

Alternatively, if you are using a Matcha Latte Magic Whisk:

  1. Add 125ml of your chosen milk to the whisk & press the power button.
  2. Sprinkle 1 Perfect Matcha Teaspoon over the milk as it spins.
  3. After you have sprinkled in your matcha you can then add your syrup of choice if required.
  4. Place the lid on top of your machine and watch the magic happen.
  5. Once your matcha in your magic whisk is ready pour on top of the ice & top up with 125ml of cold milk.
Iced Matcha Lemonade
  1. Pour your shot of matcha into a large glass with ice.
  2. Squeeze in a fresh lemon.
  3. Add a shot of honey or agave to sweeten.
  4. Top with fizzy water or lemonade.

Now the most important step: ENJOY!
