Account Access

How do I access my account?

To log into your account, please follow the steps below:

1. On our homepage (that's our front page) you will see 'LOG IN' at the top right corner - if you are on a mobile you will find this by clicking the 3 lines on the top left. This will take you to our Log In page.

2. Have an account with us but not logged into our new website yet? You may have not activated your account yet on our shiny new website. If this is the case you'll need to re-activate your account. Click on 'CREATE ACCOUNT', enter your details as if creating a new account and this will send an activation email to you to get your account back up and running.

3. Never created an account with us on either website? In that case you'll need to create an account, using the 'CREATE ACCOUNT' button - it's next to (or below on mobile) the blue SIGN IN button.

4. Have an account with us and HAVE logged into the new website already? If you have an active account with us already, pop your details in on the 'Log In' page.

I've tried to reset my password but I've not received an email!

The first thing is to check if the reset email has been delivered to spam. What is your Tea Club and how does it work?

We are very proud of our Tea Tasting Club and we hope you love it as much as we do! It is an exciting way to try our new blends and each month you will receive:

3 new fantastic tea blends delivered to you door which will make up to to 30 cups of amazing tea!

Each box is illustrated by a different artist!

What are the different types of subscriptions you offer and how much do they cost?

We offer 3 options, our Regular Box, our Caffeine Free Box and our Allergen Friendly Box.

You can get hold of these in a couple of different ways. Either by paying as you go each month or paying in advance with our gift options for 3, 6 or 12 months!

If you order between the 1st and 20th your first box will be delivered straight away, if you order between the 21st and the end of the month your box will be held until the 1st of the following month.

Pay Monthly Tea Tasting Club Subscription - you pay £9.95 + shipping per month and we'll send your box on the 1st of every month. This can be direct to a recipient or to yourself.

Tea Tasting Club Gift Subscription for 3, 6 or 12 months - Order for a set period of time and we'll send directly to the recipient (or to you if you are treating yourself!).

The recipient will then automatically receive the rest of their subscription at the start of each month following.

Do you cater for allergies?

We certainly do! We have three different boxes for you to choose from to suit your needs:

Regular Tea Club - This is our standard Tea Club including our full range of teas. You will receive Limited Edition blends in the month, or the month prior to their release and you will never receive a repeat.

Decaf Tea Club - With the largest decaf tea collection in the UK, this club is for those who want a caffeine free box of tea. Still with a very varied selection, including Limited Edition decaf teas and never repeated teas.

Allergy Tea Club - We want to make sure our Tea Club is accessible to everyone so our Allergy Tea Club caters for the 14 main allergens. Still with a very varied selection, including Limited Edition decaf teas and never repeated teas.

WARNING: Our teas are hand packed in the UK in environments that handle many different blending ingredients and we cannot 100% guarantee no cross-contamination. Therefore all blends may contain traces of: wheat, nuts, peanuts, milk, soya, mustard, sesame and sulphites.

Firstly, you lucky thing you... you have some epic friends! We are really sorry but our prepaid gift subscriptions do not get access to a subscription portal or it's benefits at this time.

However, if you wanted to take advantage of these benefits (such as pause, edit your box etc.) once your gift has ended you can always rejoin on our pay as you go plan.

How can I find out more about tea?

Come along to one of our famous Tea Mixology workshops! Our expert Tea Mixologists will teach you about the different types of tea, how they are made, best enjoyed and about the benefits of different tea blending herbs and ingredients. You will be able to create and take home your own tea blend, designed, named and packed by your very hands. The best bit? Unlimited tea cocktails throughout! Available in all of our stores. We have a HUGE back catalogue of recipes and brewing tips to inspire you to get creative with your blends!

We’ll teach you about how the plant is grown & how different processing methods determine what kind of tea it creates; be it green, white or black! You'll also get to try out 10 of our blends.

How long should I infuse my tea for?

All of our tea has recommended brewing instructions on the label and on each tea product page on the website.

That said, it is a personal preference and we encourage you develop your own tastes. The trying and testing to find your own tastes is all part of the fun so grab a pouch and get experimenting!

A few basic guidelines that we advise you stick to would be:

- Use 80 degree water with green and white tea, if you use boiling water you will burn the leaves and that is what creates the bitter taste! If you don't have a fancy temperature controlled kettle just pop a splash of cold water into the bottom of your cup before adding boiling water!

- Don’t leave your green tea for any longer than 3 minutes for the same reason.

- If you like your black tea without milk you probably don't want to leave it longer than 3 minutes either or that also can get a bit bitter.

- Rooibos, black and pu’erh teas go well with or without milk. All the other tea types are best without milk.

- If you are cold brewing your tea, simply pop 5/6 teaspoons of tea onto your cold brew bottle, top up with your liquid of choice (milk, water, lemonade or soda work well) and leave in the fridge for at least 4 hours before drinking.

How long will my tea stay fresh?

All of our blends will have an 18 month shelf life and our resealable refill pouches or tins will keep your tea at its best as long as you make sure they are resealed properly. The best before date will be clearly displayed. Our gift packets, including all of the teabag packaging is sealed for freshness but once this seal is broken, the tea will need to be placed in an airtight, dark container.

Our teas will not ‘go off’ or be dangerous to drink after the best before date but they may start to lose some of their flavours.

As tempting as it is to store your blends in a glass container (because they are so pretty), please remember that tea does not like being exposed to sunlight and the flavour may drop a little quicker than if kept away from light.

What does it mean when it says natural flavourings and flavourings on your tea labels?

Bird & Blend uses natural ingredients such as tea leaves, herbs, flowers and dried fruits to create the delicious flavours you love. We also use funky things like chocolate drops, candy hearts and sprinkles for visual purposes in some of our teas. Some of the ingredients of things like candy hearts are not 'natural' in the sense that they are not grown on or under a tree! However these are for decoration purposes and are not infused into the water.

In some of our teas we use flavourings which are from natural sources (never synthetic). This can be things such as extracts or essential oils. They can be as simple as using essence of orange to enhance an orange taste or more complicated like using combinations of flavours to simulate another taste entirely. For example, our natural almond flavouring contains no actual nuts whatsoever and some fruit extracts, can be combined to make other fruit flavours. It's all very clever!

We focus on blending perfect teas for all sorts of people, lifestyles and situations so many of our teas have no flavourings in them at all, not even natural ones or fruit essences.

Are your teas suitable for vegans?

We are very proud to say that almost all of our blends are vegan! We have only a few blends that contain honey or bee pollen that are not suitable for vegans and these will always be clearly listed in the ingredients. Currently these are our Sticky Chai which is soaked in our raw honey and two of our store blends Worker Bee and Tea from the Hood which contain bee pollen.

Is your tea good for me?

The health benefits of tea are widely recognised and have been for thousands of years. Recently, much scientific research has been published proving what the Chinese have been telling us for years about the healthy stuff in tea!

Please remember Bird & Blend Tea Co. is not a medical authority and do not produce or market health products in any way. What we do believe in is a natural, healthy lifestyle and we produce teas that fit with that lifestyle. Our teas are not high in sugar, calories or any artificial ingredients and many of the teas and other ingredients in our blends are commonly recognised to have benefits such as boosting your metabolism or your energy levels.

The calorie content of all of our teas is lower than needs to be declared on a food label, even the blends with whole fruit pieces and candy hearts. None of our blends have any more than 1g sugar and many have only a trace.

What is Chagra?

Chagra is used tea leaves and we have written an article about what to do with your used tea leaves as part of our UniversiTEA blog.

Bird & Blend Tea Co. has a zero wastage policy so we recycle everything we use including our tea leaves! We do a lot of menu development with our teas, to get our fresh drinks up to top standards, and we drink our fair share of tea at Bird & Blend HQ also. We save and strain all of our loose leaf tea after its brewed and either put it on the compost heap or use it to make our chagra bath sacks. Don't turn your nose up! The leaves are perfectly clean and they go into our sealed tea sacs for you to use as you wish.

There are hundreds of uses for chagra because tea is a brilliant odour absorber, skin exfoliant, antibacterial, soothing and refreshing for tired skin or eyes and believe it or not excellent mouth wash!

What is Matcha?

Matcha is a traditional Japanese powdered green tea. It has been used for nearly 1,000 years in the traditional tea ceremonies in Japan and is becoming more popular in the UK due to its superfood powers. The matcha powder comes from whole green tea leaves that are ground down and because you are consuming the whole leaf it is packed full of antioxidants, minerals and nutrients. In fact it has been credited with having up to 10 x the benefits of regular green tea, 7 x the vitamin C as orange juice and 3 x the energy boost as an espresso shot! It is also a great source of calcium, protein and fibre. Heaps of amino acids, beta-carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, iron, zinc, potassium... the list goes on and on and on and on.

Bird & Blend Tea Co. is proud to be the very first UK company to develop a flavoured matcha range and we have the largest collection in Europe! We have blended some of our favourite flavours, using natural ingredients including lemon, orange and antioxidant enhanced acai & blueberry, they promise to taste fantastic as well as being fantastic for your body. Matcha can be consumed either as a shot on the go, warm and milky or poured over ice with a dash of vanilla. How should I store my tea?

We know that our blends are beautiful to look at as well as to drink but as tempting as it is to store your blends in a glass container, please remember that tea does not like being exposed to sunlight so it is best to store it in a dark, air tight container to keep all the good stuff fresh!

Is your tea ethical/fairtrade?

We're passionate about creating the widest and most exciting range of blends possible and it is currently impossible to source our diverse range of ingredients from only Fairtrade certified farms. We are not registered as 'Fairtrade' but we already pay above the Fairtrade base rate for our tea and work hard to make sure that we know where all of our ingredients come from!

Our founders, Mike and Krisi are committed to making sure that the people growing our teas receive just as fair a deal as the customers purchasing our final blends, they built Bird & Blend upon the core belief that treating people fairly and doing business in the right way is the recipe for a successful company and happy customers.

Are your teas organic?

Good question! Bird & Blend tea is not certified as organic; as blend specialists, we focus making our teas fun + tasty. Because we have so many amazing blend ingredients it isn’t possible for us to have our teas certified as organic although many of our ingredients are actually organic!

Unfortunately, as we are not registered as organic, we cannot 'market' organic ingredients and therefore can't answer questions on which ingredients are or are not.

Are you a vegan company? And if so why do you sell and have blends that contain honey?

We are proud to be a vegan & vegetarian-friendly company with 100% of our products animal free & 99% of our blends being vegan-friendly (only a few contain honey or bee pollen).

However, we continue to serve & sell honey as we are very passionate about supporting small, ethical farms who are committed to preserving bees. We are proud of our founding ethics and these include being accessible to all & supporting positive change for the environment. We believe bees are essential to the future of our fragile flora & fauna so have chosen to continue to support this through our work with our independent producers. Are you a vegan company? And if so why do you serve dairy milk?

We create all of our instore drink specials with plant based mylks and include these in the recipes published online. We stock a selection of plant based options and offer these at no extra charge,. However, some of our stores do stock dairy milk to fulfil customer requests. This is a decision taken in stores dependent on customer demand.

Eco Credentials

Is your packaging recycleable?

Reducing waste & protecting our planet has been one of our founding principles since Day 1 and we are on a mission to make ourselves as eco-friendly as possible. All of our gift cartons (including the inner wrappers), takeaway cups & straws and packing boxes are eco friendly and we are working towards all of our packaging ticking this box too! Our last (and biggest) hurdle is changing our pouches and single serve wrappers over to be 100% eco-friendly.

The reason this has been hard is because our packaging needs to meet food standards and keep our tea fresh and safe for its whole shelf life. There are not currently any eco offerings out there able to achieve this.

Fear not! We have not thrown in the towel. Far from it actually! We are actually in the process of producing our very own material to be able to make our pouches and single serve wrappers eco-friendly as well as doing the all important job of keeping our tea in tip top condition! Is there any plastic in your teabags?

We are very proud that our our tea bags are 100% plastic-free, 100% natural and 100% compostable (and they have been since day one!). They are derived from a cornstarch-based material called soilon. This means you won’t be seeing our tea bags hanging around our seas and landfills. AND, just as importantly for our environment the production of SOILON creates significantly less carbon than plastics too!

About Delivery

Do I have to be in to receive my delivery?

We try to ensure as many of our boxes as possible fit through the letter box.

For UK orders. We usually use Royal Mail so if you are not home when your postie pops round, it is easy to arrange redelivery or you can collect from your nearest post office or collection office.

With DHL next working day delivery, we provide your tracking details. You can change your delivery day, select a safe space for the order to be left or choose a neighbour it can be left with, all before it has arrived with you. If you aren't in the the courier will leave a card and you can rearrange delivery at a convenient time.

Can I send to another address, say work or for a gift?

Yes, of course! You can enter a separate billing and shipping address so you can choose where to send your order!

If your order is a gift, don't forget that we can add a special note for you. Simply select 'Add gift message' box at checkout and we can wish them a happy birthday/anniversary/holiday for you!

We can even do a little doodle for them, our TEAm are super talented and love making your order special!

I've got the address wrong on my order, is it too late to change it?

Economy delivery internationally is not tracked outside of the UK. But you can upgrade to tracked delivery to all destinations.

We are really sorry but due to sanctions, we are currently unable to ship to Russia.

Please note that we are experiencing some very long delays at the moment to some international destinations due to Covid/ Brexit so please allow extra time for deliveries.

Can I get Free Delivery?

Yes you can!!! Delivery is free when shipping to UK addresses on orders over £35. We now also offer free delivery to EU addresses on orders over £54 and US/Rest of World for orders over £64!

Where's my order?

We will send you an email when our super Packing TEAm dispatch your order.

This email will have a tracking number for you to check on the status of your delivery if you picked DHL tracked delivery options. If you selected standard or 1st class delivery in the UK, Royal Mail shipping reference numbers will only provide an update once delivery has been attempted by your postie. Economy delivery internationally is a non tracked service.

Our couriers deliver a majority of orders on time, but occasionally some orders might be a bit delayed for reasons out of our control.

Covid is affecting delivery services around the globe at the moment so please allow extra time on your standard delivery before contacting us. It is also worth checking with your neighbours/delivery office in case you missed a card.

Can I track my order?

We offer both domestic and international tracked services at checkout.

If sent via an untracked service, domestic orders will show delivery confirmation (and limited info if delivery failed). International orders will show no information once they have left the UK.

About Returns

What is your returns policy?

We will happily refund any item within 30 days of purchase if it is returned to us unused and in its original condition.

We can offer a refund onto the original payment method or in the form of gift vouchers which can be used online or in stores.

If a product is faulty in any way please let us know straight away and we will be able to offer a replacement, spare parts or an alternative item of similar use/value. If this is not suitable or applicable we can offer a refund onto the credit or debit card used for the original purchase or in the form of gift vouchers for online website or stores.

Please note once delivered the customer is responsible for postage costs for the package to be returned to us.

What do I do if I receive faulty or damaged items or something is missing from my order?

Can I return my online order to my nearest store?

It isn't easy for our store teams to accept online order returns in store but we can arrange this for you as a special request if you are unable to post back to our warehouse. What happens if my order is undelivered and is returned to you?

Don't worry, our TEAbirds will get in touch to reconfirm the correct address and to take payment for the new postage. They will get your order on its way again to you asap, so time to pop the kettle on!

How will you contact me about an item that has been returned to you?

One of our lovely TEAbirds will email you if your order is received back at HQ and will follow up with a second email two weeks later. If after 3 weeks we have not been able to get hold of you, then we will drop you an email letting you know that we will refund your order, minus the shipping cost and a small £5 admin fee.

About My Order

Do you offer a gift wrap service?

Yes we do! If you are buying one of our Experience Packs you will have the option to add a gift box and other little treats like our Perfect Tea Spoons or In-Cup Infuser Baskets. For any other items you can add one of our gorgeous craft gift boxes to your order (they come in regular or large) and our Packing TEAm will make sure this looks perfect for you!

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes! If you are stuck for a gift idea then one of our gift certificates is the perfect solution! If you need a gift in a hurry, you can buy an e-voucher and we will email you the code. Our vouchers are digital and can be used only on the website!

Will I get a free sample with my order?

We love giving you samples to try and we pop two free tea bag samples in with all orders we send out via post! If you have a blend that you would like to try out, please pop a request in the comments box at the checkout and our TEAm will do their best to include this with your order. Unfortunately we do not send out free samples for orders of virtual products such as workshop tickets, e-voucher gift certificates or with Tea Club subscriptions.

Is your website safe?

Your security is super important to us and we are proud of our website security! In fact, we use the biggest and most reputable ecommerce platform in the world!

All information entered through our website is kept private and we will never sell it or pass it on to a third party. Our checkout is processed through a secure server and we also use Paypal as a well-known and trusted payment provider to ensure you are safe and have confidence buying through our website.

What are your payment options?

We accept online payment by credit and debit card (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX & Maestro) as well as Paypal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay & Google Pay - so many choices!

Please note that for subscription orders we do not currently accept Shop, Apple or Google Pay.

Yes, we started life out as Bluebird Tea Co. but in May 2018 we evolved our name to Bird & Blend Tea Co. We won't bore you with the long version (if you'd like the full story click here) but long story short, we are the same fab people, same awesome tea blends, just under a new name!

You can stock up on tea through our website or from one of our stores! We have shops across the UK in Brighton, Brighton Beach, London (Angel, Borough & Portobello Road), Bristol, Tunbridge Wells, Nottingham, Cardiff, Manchester and coming soon - Oxford!

We also supply our blends to a selection of hand-picked wholesale partners in their cafes, restaurants and farm shops!

ChariTEA

How to become a ChariTEA of the Quarter?

We are proud to support a different ChariTEA each quarter firstly through the sales of a blend, chosen by the ChariTEA, with all profits of the blend sold online or in stores will go direct to the ChariTEA to help them continue their amazing work!

But, more than this we like to get involved with our different ChariTEAs to help with fundraisers, to raise awareness and collaborate on projects with them. To be chosen as a ChariTEA of the Quarter you must first be nominated by one of our TEAbirds so pop into store for a chat with a TEAm member or drop us an email to introduce yourselves!

Our products are hand packed so it can take a little longer to copy with demand on our big fan fave items like this one. If you have included other items to your basket they will be held until we ship your Tea Advent Calendar too.

Are you offering Christmas gift wrap service?

Yes we are! If you would like an item wrapped by us with our Eco Furoshiki wrapping we have given you that option on selected products. If the products has the 'Gift Wrap Option' at the top of the page just click yes and select your design for a ready wrapped gift! If you can only find it as a product on its own or a helpful add on this mean we will be unable to gift wrap these items for you but we are providing guides on how to do this yourself at home.

If you are buying one of our Pick ‘n’ Mix you will have the option to add a gift box and other little treats like our Perfect Tea Spoons or In-Cup Infuser Baskets. For any other items you can add one of our gorgeous craft gift boxes to your order (they come in regular or large) and our Packing TEAm will make sure this looks perfect for you!

We love including hand written notes with all orders so if you have something you'd like us to add please leave this in the 'Add gift message' box at the checkout and we can wish them a happy Christmas for you! We can even do a little doodle for you, our TEAm are super talented and love making your order special. This can either just a note or into a greetings card if you have selected one! Please remember only to use up to 90 characters.
