    Frequently asked questions

What size is this tea tool?

    ‎24cm H x 4cm W
How do you clean this tea tool?

You can wash it by hand with hot soapy water.
How many tea spoons do you recommend using?

1 perfect matcha spoon for 1 cup of matcha.
What is this tea tool made out of?

This matcha whisk is plastic which is unusual for us, as we aim to reduce our use of plastic. However, we are confident that this is the best tool out there for perfect milk and matcha frothing so we want to give our customers the option to choose for themselves. This is why we think it is great:

    - The nylon (plastic) whisking head means the matcha doesn’t clump (vs. a stainless steel head that can create clumps).

    - Matcha green tea is high in catechins (aka antioxidants) and there is some anecdotal evidence that the full benefit of these may be suppressed by using stainless steel to brew the drink.

    - The handle is made from ABS Plastic which is recyclable but only on an industrial scale. This plastic design is commonplace in the market for hand whiskers. As an eco-friendly company, we will be launching this product but looking at future opportunities for us to work with Aerolatte on designing a bespoke, more eco-friendly alternative to this item and we will also be looking into ways to recycle the handle.

    - This product can also be used for tea lattes, coffee lattes and hot chocolates as a generic milk frother too!

    Great whisk

"Very powerful very good matcha whisk"

    — Mark F. (5/5)

Best invention for a busy morning

"Best whisk for matcha also like that it is Nylon and not steel which can change flavour of matcha portabke and easy to clean"

    — Meryl (5/5)

"Best small electric whisk I have ever used. I think this will also be really durable. I wasn’t sure about it being plastic but having used and washed this I now see that compared to other designs this will survive the kitchen drawers and last and last. Its design means a rinse under the tap is enough and powder can’t get stuck in it. Powerful enough to whisk matcha, create cold foams and froth milk but make sure to use a tall cup or glass when frothing. B & B always choose top end products."

    — MISS (5/5)

    It was good

    "It does the job"

    — Reighgan M. (5/5)

    Makes a mess

"So far Jist makes a mess and doesn’t cause any froth. A regular milk frother would do the same for £15 less"

    — Emma (1/5)

    Great for matcha

"Really saves me time and makes matcha a lot easier. I wish I got this sooner!"

    — Amelie (5/5)

    — Zara N. (5/5)

    Overjoyed

"So bought this for my significant other who has been asking me for one. Well if the look over joy on his face is anything to go by he loves it. Makes a nice smooth matcha"

    — angela h. (5/5)

    Works amazing

"Works so well for a quick matcha when to lazy to do it by hand. But do have to replace battery quite a bit but I think that relates to my matcha consumption."

    — Gonda M. (5/5)

    I love this thing!

"This is such a good frother. I actually had one first as a gift from a friend. After years, it stopped working and I missed it so much I had to order another!"

    — Gemma C. (5/5)

    Q&A

Hi, I bought one of these about a month or two ago and it’s been working great, however I have dropped it on the floor and now it won’t work anymore 😔 is there a warranty in place for this or able to offer a replacement by any chance seeing as it’s a more recent buy?
Hey, Adina! If you drop us an email at info@birdandblendtea.com and include your order number, we will see how we can help :) Warmest brews, Anna @ B&B
What size batter(y(ies)) does this take?
Hi Darren, Thanks so much for getting in touch! Our Milk and Matcha Frother takes 2 x AA batteries. I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions. Happy Sipping! Claire @ B&B
How do you clean this frother?
Hi there, thanks so much for asking! I just give mine a wizz in some soapy water when I'm doing the washing up! Ian @ B&B
Hiya, I bought it because you said plastic is better for matcha and I love it. It's fab. This is a question about using metal with matcha. Is it not advisory to use a metal spoon to measure the matcha?
Hi there, thanks so much for asking! Using a metal spoon to measure the matcha is fine, but I'd not recommend using a metal whisk as it can change the flavour. Happy Sipping! Ian @ B&B
Is this an alternative to using a whisk for matcha? Or is this just for the milk itself? Thanks!
Hi Isla, it can be used for both - just start of slowly with the bowl tilted a little in case of splashes. Andi @ B&B
