ChariTEA of the Quarter | WithYou

What is the ChariTEA of the Quarter all about?

When we set up Bird & Blend back in 2012, we knew we wanted to create a company that gave back to the world and the communities that we worked within. We are passionate about supporting causes that are close to our hearts, helping the people & environment around us, so our ChariTEA (did you see what we did there?) of the Quarter was born. Supporting causes we love through tea seemed like the pretty perfect move for us!

Every three months, we choose a different charity to work with and support them through the profits of their chosen blend, along with campaigns that our fans and customers get involved in too.

During this time, all of the profits that we make from the online sales of our ChariTEA blend go straight to that charity or cause. This Quarter, our ChariTEA WithYou has chosen Duvet Day tea.

Who are WithYou & how do they help?

WithYou is a drug, alcohol and mental health support charity. With over 80 services across England and Scotland, they provide free, confidential support to more than 100,000 people every year. Their mission is simple: to be there for anyone experiencing or affected by drug or alcohol challenges, without judgement.

WithYou works with people at every stage of their journey - whether someone is looking to cut down, stop altogether, or simply talk things through. Support can take many forms, including one-to-one support, group sessions, online tools, and local services, all with the goal of helping people figure out next steps together, at their own pace.

They also support friends, family members and loved ones who are affected by someone else’s drinking or drug use. That might mean practical advice, emotional support, or simply having a space to talk things through with others who understand.

At the heart of it all is helping one another. Sitting down with a cup of tea can play a surprisingly important role in making someone feel at ease. It helps them to pause, take a breath, and feel comfortable enough to open up.

Not many people know that there are almost 100 drug-related deaths every week in the UK - that’s over 13 deaths per day. And in Scotland, each week around 700 people are hospitalised as a result of alcohol use.

WithYou exist to change this. By raising awareness of their services and letting people know support is out there, you’re helping someone take their first steps towards feeling better.

How small moments make a difference: Graham's story

Graham, a veteran from Cornwall, got in touch with WithYou after a tough period in his life. He was struggling with anxiety, grief, and alcohol use, and wasn’t sure where to turn.

With support from WithYou, he joined group sessions, met others going through similar experiences, and started to find his confidence again. It was the simple things - like making a cup of tea and taking a moment to himself - that meant the most to Graham. Tea became a part of his routine.

Stories like Graham’s are why WithYou chose Duvet Day tea as their ChariTEA blend. It represents those pauses and moments of rest that help people feel safe enough to take the next step, however small that may be.

How WithYou is working with Bird & Blend?

This quarter, every cup of Duvet Day tea supports WithYou’s mission to make sure no one faces challenges with drugs, alcohol, or mental health alone.

WithYou chose Duvet Day because not every day is for productivity - some are for recovery.

Many of the people WithYou support are learning how to slow down and be kinder to themselves again. Duvet Day felt like a nice reflection of that - a reminder that it’s okay to pause, rest and take things one step at a time.
