Awful experience to avoid

"We arrived at 5:25 as told by the confirmation email. The staff told us they were not going to close the store until 6:00 and therefore the workshop won’t start before 6:30. We were told to go away for one hour and to come back. We explained that the booking is at 5:30, they checked on their system and confirm that it was at 5:30, the other participants arrived as well. The staffs still refused to close the store for the workshop to start on time. After we were asked to leave again, we said that we will not come back and requested a refund. we were told we will received a full refund as it was their fault, instead we received a voucher of £80 (we paid £90)."

Fun evening

"We enjoyed the evening very much! Lots of different tea to try, and we learned a lot about different teas and types of brewing. Also had the chance to try some of the blends we were interested in buying. Had fun mixing our own blends towards the end. Kiana and Sophie were very friendly and passionate about tea!"

Great

"Great, but not having a working toilet at an event with that much to drink isn't ideal. I also think spacing out the drinks would be better. The Ankara apple was completely overtaken by the Jasmine in the tea before."

The lock-ins are much better value for money, left disappointed but lovely staff

"We didn’t think it was good value for money and would hesitate to recommend this - although we love the teas themselves. What we learned about tea was great, the staff were very nice, funny and knowledgeable. It was great to try lots of different flavours of tea, and learn how to brew them properly and why. This was a great first hour and a half that we thoroughly enjoyed. In terms of tasting, there was the same amount of tasting as a lock-in event, about 8 teas (20-30ml each) and one sized tea cocktail/mocktail. However, the tea blending part felt very disorganised and not value for money. After sampling multiple teas during the first part of the session, we were disappointed for the yerba mate and oolong tea base to not be available for the blending, as well as the white tea having run out quickly. The ingredients were not as extensive as the options in the standard bird and blend teas, it seemed very basic and limited to only 10 additions, that it was not possible to be creative or recreate any of the flavours we tried. Quite a few of the ‘additions’ ran out as well - cacao nibs, lemon and orange peel, so we could only take away green/black/hibiscus tea with some cinnamon or coconut. After the high of the first hour, this really brought the mood down. We also were not told about any flavour combinations or anything about what works or doesn’t work for tea blending - it would have been interesting to understand more about how the company comes up with its flavour combinations. I would recommend the tea lock-ins instead - which I have attended many times - as they are significantly better value for money. At almost three times the price, with the same amount of drinks to try, and a very limited and basic ‘blending’ session and options, we would unfortunately not recommend the Tea Blending Workshop."

Underwhelmed by the blending

"I had a wonderful evening with Frankie and Sophie. They were truely fantastic. I also enjoyed the free tea, as I could try a lot and decide which ones to buy. As for the content I was kind of disappointed about the content. Very much basic tea knowledge I already knew. Not much about blending, developing of flavors; how the flavorings and natural aromas are created. Also the hands on blending was not what I was expected. There were black, green, white, mate, roibos, fruit and herbal tea bases and some basic additions like coconut, cloves, hibiscus, chai, orange peel, lemon peel, … but no aromas or special ingredients. So nothing I couldn‘t have done at home with stuff from my store cupboard. So if you are just looking for a nice evening with lots of tea and shopping, or if you don‘t know that much about tea, then this is for you. But if you are expecting to dive into the topping of tea blending you will be underwhelmed."
